Meet Amanda Lampard-Drew – an experienced, compassionate therapist. Blending professional expertise with lived experience to guide your journey. Learn how Amanda’s story shapes the therapy she offers.
Hi, I’m Amanda Lampard-Drew
I am a Senior Accredited Therapist and for the past 17+ years I have used my therapeutic and counselling expertise to help, guide and support others towards more meaning and fulfilment in their lives.
I am fortunate to live within the five valleys of the beautiful town Stroud in Gloucestershire, with my partner, brilliant neurodivergent teenager and Cavapoo Sonny.
What qualifies me to really help?
I worked for over a decade in a university counselling service supporting a diverse range of students which included neurodivergence and LGBTQAI+. I worked with students struggling with anxiety, depression, OCD, depression, self-harm, relationship breakdown, sexual assault and trauma.
I delivered psycho-educational courses and saw patients within the NHS talking therapies service for CBT.
I currently see clients in private practice, through employee assistance and private health insurance online and in central Stroud. These include workplace stress, bullying, bereavement and burnout.
I am skilled at working within a brief therapy model often 6-8 sessions. I utilise my many hundreds of hours of training to introduce and empower clients towards life enhancing evidence-based tools and strategies.
I continue to be amazed by the transformations I see in clients – when we are truly seen, and feel held within safe, non-judgmental spaces, and when we are given the right tools, we can make huge leaps towards more rewarding lives.
Alongside my professional accreditations and qualifications, I know from my own experience what it’s like to feel stuck, hopeless, and trapped in worry and panic loops, to feel overwhelmed and out of control.
In my twenties, I struggled with anxiety, low self-worth and depression – with support and psychological therapy I was able to, first stop self-medicating with alcohol (I have been abstinent for 20+ years), and then begin to heal.
In my thirties, after years of debilitating chronic back pain, I discovered the strong emerging evidence-base on how stress and psychological factors can often play a significant role in chronic pain conditions.
So as well as talk therapy, I encourage clients to also consider where they may be holding psychological distress in their bodies, to enable a more effective processing of suffering and distress.
By coming through my difficulties, and experiencing my own therapeutic journey, I am able to bring deeper empathy and effectiveness to the work I do with others. I have been able to create a meaningful and fulfilling life for myself, and I want that for you too—because no matter how impossible it feels right now, change is possible and you don’t have to face it alone.
